With Tommi Parrish, Nino Bulling & the class "Illustration & Comic" of the Kunsthochschule Kassel.
Good comics need more than just good drawings. It is just as important to be able to tell an exciting story!
With this in mind, the Kunsthaus Göttingen, in cooperation with the Kunsthochschule Kassel, invites you to experience the two artists and comic authors Tommi Parrish (*1989/ Melbourne) and Nino Bulling (*1986/ Berlin) together on the reading stage. In reference to the current comic exhibition "Togetherness" at the Kunsthaus, they will read excerpts from the works presented here.
Nino's comic story "abfackeln" ("firebugs") was published in 2022 for documenta fifteen in Kassel. The volume tells the story of Lily and Ingken, whose relationship is put to the test by Ingken's fear of change. Tommi is represented with the graphic novel "Men I trust", which is about the fragile relationship between a single mother with an alcohol problem and a mentally unstable young woman. The longing for friendship and closeness leads to a dynamic of constantly crossing boundaries.
A special highlight of the reading: in addition to excerpts from the exhibited comics and a brand new, as yet unpublished work by Tommi Parrish, works by students of the "Illustration and Comics" class at the Kunsthochschule Kassel will be presented. The basis for this is a writing workshop that Bulling and Parrish are organizing together with the students at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the Kunsthaus Göttingen.
By the way: the wine bar will be open during the reading and afterwards there will be an opportunity to have the two artists sign the comics available at the box office.
