41st Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival

What stories do we want to tell about ourselves? This year, several works at the Kassel International Documentary Film and Video Festival will deal with questions of collective memory and forgetting.

59 feature-length films and 153 short films from 57 countries will be presented in Kassel's arthouse cinemas from November 12-17, 2024. Four prizes totaling 20,000 euros will be awarded among 85 nominated works. A large part of the program can also be found on the Dokfest Online streaming platform. The service, which is available nationwide, allows films to be viewed online after their presentation in the festival cinema until November 24.

Multi-perspective views and interdisciplinary discussions form the profile of the Kassel Dokfest. The festival thus presents a wide range of content and remains true to its focus of providing a stage for current socio-political works.

The exhibition Monitoring presents 17 contemporary international media installations. This year, the curators are paying particular attention to queer perspectives, care work and resistance to socially shaped assignments.
