© Jan ZühlkeMats Werchohlad explores spatial and transformational dynamics at the intersection of technology, education, and society. Drawing on an interdisciplinary background, he combined studies in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.) at Technische Universität Berlin and Urban Studies (M.Sc.) at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, supplemented by additional coursework at the Faculty of Media. In his master’s thesis, he examined the spatial and historical relationship between the Park an der Ilm and the Staatliches Bauhaus—a line of research he continues to pursue in his doctoral project.
Previously, Mats Werchohlad worked as a research associate at the Chair of Spatial Planning and Spatial Research at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and at the Institute for Transport and Space at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt. As a project coordinator, he developed new study programmes and supervised application procedures on behalf of the Executive Board of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He has also realised further research and mediation projects within the Horizonte Initiative for Architectural Discourse, at the Bauhaus Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture and Planning, at the Venice Architecture Biennale, within the Network for Architectural Research, and at the Collegium Helveticum in Zurich.
