Jan Eining completed his studies in art history and history in Dresden, Bonn, and Rome, graduating in 2020 with a thesis on the reception-aesthetic interpretation of the ceiling paintings in S. Maria del Rosario in Venice by Giambattista Tiepolo. Following this he worked in the editorial department of the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome and recently held an academic internship at the Collections of the State Office for Monument Preservation in Saxony, where he served as co-curator of the annual exhibition “Italian Baroque in Dresden.”
His research subjects include the Italian art of the Renaissance and Baroque, especially Venice in the 18th century, early modern residence and court culture and the genesis, presentation, and significance of art collections in them, as well as the art of the counter-reformation.
Since June 2024 Jan Eining has been a research associate with Prof. Dr. Martina Sitt, where he is preparing his doctoral thesis on the painting of Giambattista Piazzetta.
