Kunsthochschule Kassel in Biarritz

Second round of the campus exchange program between ESAPB, Fipadoc, Kassel Dokfest and Kunsthochschule Kassel launched.

Hessen has had a partner region in France, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, for over 25 years. Hesse and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region regularly work together in research, education and vocational training, business development and culture. The Filmladen Kassel and the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival are strengthening cooperation between the partner regions in the field of culture with a special project that aims to inspire young filmmakers. After the first phase from 2019 to 2022, the second round of the campus exchange program (2023 to 2024) started in January 2023 in Biarritz at the International Documentary Festival - FIPADOC.

16 French and German students from the Kassel School of Art and Design and the ESAPB (École supérieure d'art Pays Basque) met for the first time on 23.01.2023 as part of the film festival. Marion Czarny, the campus representative of the Fipadoc, welcomed the students and lecturers at a reception. The student group was supervised by Anna Berger and Jan Peters for the Kunsthochschule Kassel and Maddi Barber and Mathilde Supe for the ESAPB students. The first phase of the project is to develop a collective film, which will be shot in the Reinhardswald Nature Park in northern Hesse in mid-May 2023. The results will be premiered at the 40th edition of the Kassel Dokfest in November 2023. The project is being realized with the kind support of: HessenFilm und Medien GmbH, the Representation of the State of Hesse to the Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, DJFW (Franco-German Youth Office).
