Exhibition hall receives plaque for "Outstanding Architecture in Hesse"

The ten buildings awarded the Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plakette 2023 in the competition organized by the Association of German Architects (BDA) Hesse include the exhibition hall of the Kunsthochschule Kassel (Innauer Matt Architekten, Bezau / AT).

The Association of German Architects BDA Hessen is pleased to announce the results of the BDA Architecture Prize "Excellent Architecture in Hessen - Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plaque" 2023 of the BDA groups Mittelhessen and Kassel. You can find the award winners here.

The award ceremony for the clients and their architects of the award-winning buildings will take place on March 21, 2023 at 7 pm at KAZimKUBA (Kassel Architecture Center in the KulturBahnhof). Prof. Renate Fehling from Darmstadt will give the laudatory speech on behalf of the jury and present the Simon Louis du Ry plaques to the award winners. The corresponding exhibition will open at KAZimKUBA on March 15, 2023. All 58 buildings submitted to the competition will be on display.

Buildings of any size and use that were completed between 2018 and January 2023 and located in the city of Kassel or the districts of Kassel, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Schwalm-Eder, Werra-Meißner, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Lahn-Dill, Gießen, Wetterau, Vogelsberg and Fulda were eligible for the 2023 Simon-Louis-du-Ry plaque jury meeting.

Background The BDA Hessen would like to make good, exemplary architecture known to a broad public. In order to be able to select and award prizes to the relevant buildings, the BDA groups organize four regional competitions in a five-year cycle: Joseph-Maria-Olbrich-Plakette (BDA Group Darmstadt), Martin-Elsaesser-Plakette (BDA Group Frankfurt am Main), Simon-Louis-du-Ry-Plakette (BDA Groups Kassel and Mittelhessen), Johann-Wilhelm-Lehr-Plakette (BDA Group Wiesbaden). Independent, convened juries present up to ten awards per region. The award-winning buildings receive the plaque of the respective region. The award is aimed at the client and architects.

All projects awarded throughout Hesse in 2023 will be shown together in a traveling exhibition at Kunsthalle Darmstadt in early 2024.
