The Crash or Dolphin‘s Egg

Opening:
14.09.2022, 18:00

The Crash or Dolphin‘s Egg is Tim Rudolph’s graduation work in Fine Arts from the Kunsthochschule Kassel.

Through his work, the artist engages in guidance through normative phenomena and explores possible outcomes using sculptural strategies. The Crash or Dolphin‘s Egg shows the most striking example of this modus operandi. In the process of creation, the artist subordinated himself to occurring repetitions, own conclusions and the material.

The visible feature of this example lies in one recurring form. It finds its concreteness in the combination with and through different materials such as styrofoam, wood, paper, metal andsilicon. Flatness, three-dimensional objects and negative space are presented together as one morphology. Like juggling without falling, the form has endured a path of genuine
engagement with existence and interaction with all within.

Tim Rudolph describes his way of interacting with the environment as both a blessing and a curse. His work can only exist because it embodies the total congruence of hands-on experience and theoretical cognitive science in contemporary research. It is through processes of curious dissection and compression that the work takes shape.

The Crash or Dolphin‘s Egg’s connection to the Buddhist ontology of groundlessness embraces the Shoji-ambient of the traces-Forschungsstation and underlines the everyday practice character of Tim Rudolph’s creation: Listening to the guidance by normative phenomena.
