Kunsthochschule Kassel in Biarritz

The second round of the campus exchange program between ESAPB, Fipadoc, Kassel Dokfest, and Kunsthochschule Kassel has started.

For over 25 years the federal state Hessen in Germany has partnered with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France. They regularly cooperate in research, school and vocational training, economic development, and culture. The Filmladen Kassel and the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival are strengthening the cooperation between the partner regions in the field of culture with a special project that aims to provide creative input and educational support for young filmmakers. After the first phase from 2019 to 2022, the second round of the campus exchange program (2023 to 2024) started in January 2023 in Biarritz at the International Documentary Festival – FIPADOC.

16 French and German students from Kunsthochschule Kassel and ESAPB (École supérieure d'art Pays Basque) met for the first time on 23 January 2023 at the film festival. Marion Czarny, the campus representative of Fipadoc, welcomed the students at an reception. The student group was supervised by Anna Berger and Jan Peters for Kunsthochschule Kassel and Maddi Barber and Mathilde Supe from ESAPB. In Biarritz, the students started developing a collective film project that will be shot in the Reinhardswald Nature Park in North Hessen in mid-May 2023. The results will be premiering at the 40th edition of the Kassel Dokfest in November 2023. The project is realized with the kind support of HessenFilm und Medien GmbH, the Representation of the State of Hessen to the Regional Council of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and OFAJ (Franco-German Youth Office).
