Support for students - Cusanuswerk

For students of fine arts, a selection procedure takes place every year. Participation in the selection procedure is based on proposals from the art colleges, at which the Cusanuswerk is represented by contact lecturers. Depending on the number of students in the liberal arts and art teaching programs, each university has the right to nominate up to four particularly qualified students for the procedure. If the application is successful, the Cusanuswerk funding covers both the first artistic degree (graduate / diploma / master's degree) and the subsequent master's year.

Please note that only students of fine arts can participate in this procedure. Students of applied arts (e.g. architecture, interior design, graphics, design, film ...), can apply themselves in the following procedures:

If you are studying at an art academy, university or equivalent, you will find all further information under the heading Selection procedure for students at universities. If you are studying at a university of applied sciences or its equivalent, you will find more detailed information under Selection procedure for students at universities of applied sciences. In both procedures, the evaluation takes place with special consideration of your artistic profile.

Procedure and deadlines
Nominations from art colleges are submitted by August 1, after which all applicants are informed of their admission and invited to upload their application documents. During the winter semester, all nominees complete two interviews. An integral part of the application is the submission of a portfolio and participation in the joint selection exhibition in February or March. These exhibitions are open to the public and hosted in a different city each year. After the opening of the selection exhibition, a jury of art professors and representatives from university pastoral care and the Cusanuswerk office decides on the awarding of the scholarships.
