Visiting Professor for Virtual Realities

Kerstin Honeit studied fine arts and stage design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. She lives in Berlin.

In addition to her teaching activities at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, she has been an artistic associate in the class Virtual Realities, doing research on the voice as a queer event within moving images (2014-2019). In the winter semester 2020/21 she filled a vacant professorship in media art at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig. Starting in the summer semester of 2021 Kerstin Honeit is a visiting professor for Virtual Realities,substituting for Bjørn Melhus.

In her work as an artist and filmmaker Kerstin Honeit moves at the interface of various forms of staging. The focus of her artistic research is to examine the mechanisms of representation in the production of hegemonic visual worlds, especially as related to cultural and linguistic translation modes in the context of the moving image.
