Teaching Staff for Special Tasks | Visual Communication Foundation Class

Joey Arand works at the intersection of contemporary art and film. Her works deal with social topics such as identity, “Heimat,” or physical coercion. From 2011 to 2017 she studied Visual Communication at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Her 61-minute diploma film, the documentary “Gebär_Mütter,” treats the topic of surrogate motherhood from a number of perspectives. In 2017 she finished her masters studies with Professorin Martina Bramkamp and Professor Jan Peters. 

Her films have been screened at numerous festivals, such as the GoEast Festival, the Exground Festival, or the Dresdner Schmalfilmtagen. Her short film “Victoire” won the 1st prize at Video der Generationen. Her artistic works have been exhibited at the Grimmwelt Kassel, the Hinterconti Hamburg, and at the Galeria Kaufhof during documenta 14. 

In 2017 she received a grant for three months to work at the Künstlerkolonie Willingshausen.
